ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized drugs comprising 6.8 tonnes hashish, 4.28 kg heroin, 1.48 kg amphetamine and 2.25 kg opium during 25 operations countrywide.
The ant-drug force also arrested 34 drug peddlers including a woman and a foreigner and impounded eight vehicles during its ongoing countrywide anti-drug drive campaign. Price of seized drugs in international market is Rs 4.2 billion.
As per details, ANF Quetta in a successful intelligence-led operation seized 6.682 tonnes hashish from Qilla Abdullah district. The drug consignment was concealed at an uninhabited site located in mountainous area of Killi Suleman Khel of the district.
As per preliminary reports, the drug consignment was to be shifted to some safe location situated at coastal area of Balochistan for final dispatch to some unidentified location.
In another operation, ANF Quetta arrested three drug peddlers identified as Habib Ullah, Ahmed Ullah and Aman Ullah, and recovered one kg hashish from them. They were arrested near New Shamsabad Hotel, Bypass Road, Quetta.
Similarly, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a drug peddler near Car Chowk, and recovered 1.2 kg heroin from him. In another operation, the same team arrested a local drug peddler from Dina Bus Stop, Jhelum and recovered 120 grams hashish from him. Yet in another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested an accused from Mangla Bypass, near Attock Petrol Pump, Dina and recovered 230 grams opium from him. In fourth operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a woman drug peddler and recovered 600 grams heroin from her. She was arrested from Chah Sultan, Rawalpindi.
Meanwhile, ANF Rawalpindi airport team arrested a Nigerian named Ezugwu Christian Chinedu at the Benazir International Airport, on suspicion of ingested heroin filled capsules. During interrogation, the accused confessed of having heroin filled capsules in his belly. Later on, 1.28 kg heroin was recovered from heroin filled capsules.
In sixth operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a vehicle near Bagha More, and recovered 7.5 kg hashish concealed in secret cavities of the car. Two persons onboard were arrested on the spot. In seventh operation, ANF Rawalpindi recovered 360 grams heroin from a drug peddler who was arrested while riding a motorcycle in E11, Islamabad.
Separately, the ANF Lahore team intercepted two vehicles near Thokar Niaz Baig, which led to seizure of 36 kg hashish. Three drug traffickers identified as Maqbool Hussain, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Shaid and Muhammad Ishaq were arrested.
In an operation, ANF Lahore arrested a local drug peddler while he was travelling in a car near Daewoo Bus Terminal Faisalabad, thus recovering 75 grams heroin from him. Yet in another operation, ANF Lahore arrested a passenger while he was boarding for Taif and recovered 1.48 kg amphetamine concealed in his luggage.
ANF Karachi on pursuance of an information, raided a premises situated at Abdul Raheem Brohi Goth, Sirjani Town, and seized 132 kg hashish and two kg opium. An accused identified as Abdul Majeed was arrested during the operation. In another operation, the same team arrested a drug peddler and recovered 430 grams hashish from him.
Yet in another operation, ANF Karachi arrested a drug peddler along with 330 gramsh. He was arrested from Coastal Area, Ali Goth. In fourth operation, ANF Karachi arrested an accused involved in local drug peddling and recovered 300 grams hashish him. The ANF also arrested four more drug peddlers, which led to seizure of 2 kg hashish during different search operations in Karachi, Sukkur and Hyderabad,
The ANF teams in Peshawar arrested seven drug peddlers from different areas of the city and recovered drugs comprising one kg heroin, 3.63 kg hashish. All cases have been registered at respective ANF police stations and further investigations are underway.
