ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif was formally nominated as opposition alliance’s candidate for the premiership, party spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb announced on Monday.
Speaking to a press conference, Marriyum said that the joint opposition alliance has unanimously agreed to nominate former Punjab CM as the the prime minister candidate. She also termed the general elections 2018 as ‘rigged’.
Marriyum also called Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan a ‘vote thief’ and a ‘self-proclaimed’ PM, adding that PTI was being handed a ‘rigged’ mandate.
The ex-information and broadcasting minister also announced that ticket holders from all parties of the opposition alliance will hold a protest outside Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office on August 8.
